
An industry leading manufacturer and producer based on Vancouver Island is looking to add an experienced Manager, Cost Accounting to their growing finance team. Based in Nanaimo BC, the Manager, Cost Accounting is responsible for providing all the financial reporting, analysis and information to support various operational departments. The Manager reports directly to the Controller and is responsible for preparing, analyzing and auditing regular production reports. Key analysis consists of inventory, costing, labour, expenses, yields etc. They are also responsible to provide support and analysis to the management team to assist in creating greater efficiencies and opportunities.
As the key person on the finance team who will lead the cost accounting function, the Manager, Cost Accounting will play a critical role in conducting all analysis directly. The position will eventually grow to developing and leading a small cost accounting/financial analysis team.
Qualifications
- An accounting or finance degree/diploma
- Currently hold a professional accounting designation or pursuing a CPA
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in accounting in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent knowledge of purchasing, receiving and inventory flow
- Experience in working with an ERP system
- Experience in performing cost and inventory analysis
- Excellent communications and proven supervisory/leadership skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Advanced Excel skills
