An exciting opportunity exists to join our client as an Assistant Director, in their downtown Vancouver Office. Achieving and exceeding national goals; developing and streamlining workflows; advising and leading a team of experienced commercial underwriting professionals are some of the key responsibilities of the Assistant Director.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing leadership, mentoring and assisting a team of experienced commercial underwriters
• Underwriting larger speciality risks and providing authorization on risk above team member levels
• Monitor performance of the commercial team
• Encourage team growth and work with individuals to develop training plans to help them succeed
• Actively work with the Brokers and continue to raise the profile of the company

• Conduct and develop seminars to inform and train Brokers

Qualifications:

• 10+ years’ experience in commercial underwriting – property and casualty are an asset
• A University Degree or College Diploma
• Possess a CIP or FCIP designation

• A “hands-on” and collaborative approach to leadership
• Strong business acumen and interpersonal skills
• A passion for team-building and mentoring
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
